Level 2
This qualification Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair Competence is for anyone developing a career in the motor industry. These practical qualifications demonstrate your skills on the job, in your own workplace, showing that you meet national standards for automotive workers.
Their structure and assessment strategy have been produced by the Institute of the Motor Industry.

- Knowledge of Materials, Fabrication, Tools and Measuring Devices used in the Automotive Environment
- Competency in Routine Light Vehicle Maintenance
- Competency in Removing and Replacing Light Vehicle Engine Units and Components
- Competency in Removing and Replacing Light Vehicle Electrical Units and Components
- Competency in Removing and Replacing Light Vehicle Chassis Units and Components
- Knowledge of Routine Light Vehicle Maintenance

To complete level 1 or level 2 you must achieve a number of credits from mandatory units and credits from optional units. This will increase as the levels increase.
