Level 1

Level 2
This qualification is for candidates who work in or want to develop as Painter and Decorator.
In this level you will be –
- Applying Coatings by the Air Spray Method in the Workplace
- Applying Coatings by the Airless Spray Method in the Workplace
- Applying Paint Systems by Brush and Roller in the Workplace
- Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
- Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
- Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms in the Workplace
- Hanging Standard Paper Wall coverings in the Workplace
- Hanging Wide-width Vinyl in the Workplace
- Installing Coving, Centre-pieces and Texture Products in the Workplace
- Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace
- Operating Equipment in Support of the Abrasive Blast Cleaner in the Workplace
- Operating Equipment in Support of the Paint Sprayer in the Workplace
- Preparing Surfaces by Abrasive Blast Cleaning in the Workplace
- Preparing Surfaces for Painting/Decorating in the Workplace
- Producing and Applying Complex Stencil Designs in the Workplace
- Producing Broken Colour Work and Basic Stencilling in the Workplace
Level 3
This qualification is ideal if you have worked in the construction industry and have plenty of experience. Your work might involve supervising others and managing resources. If you want to develop your skills further and move into a senior role or a position with more responsibilities.

- Applying Metal Leaf to Surfaces in the Workplace
- Applying Paint Systems to Complex Surfaces in the Workplace
- Confirming the Occupational Method of Work in the Workplace
- Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Work Area in the Workplace
- Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
- Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace
- Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms in the Workplace
- Hanging Specialist Paper Wall coverings in the Workplace
- Hanging Wall coverings to Complex Surfaces in the Workplace
- Hanging Wide-width Vinyl in the Workplace
- Installing Coving, Centre-pieces and Texture Products in the Workplace
- Preparing Surfaces for Painting/Decorating in the Workplace
- Producing and Applying Complex Stencil Designs in the Workplace
- Producing Basic Brush Graining and Marbling Effects in the Workplace
- Producing Broken Colour Work and Basic Stencilling in the Workplace
- Producing Comb Textured Finishes in the Workplace
- Producing Replica Quality Grained and Marble Finishes in the Workplace
To complete level 1, level 2 or level 3 you must achieve a number of credits from mandatory units and credits from optional units. This will increase as the levels increase.
