Level 1

This qualification will suit individuals who need to acquire engineering competencies in a realistic, sheltered and controlled environment such as that offered by schools, colleges, training providers, company training centres.

  • Carrying Out Pipe Fitting Activities
  • Using Lathes for Turning Operations
  • Using Milling Machines / Grinding Machines
  • Carrying Out Routine Servicing of Mechanical Equipment
  • Assembling Fluid Power Equipment
  • Carrying Out Sheet Metal Cutting, Forming and Assembly Activities
  • Using Manual Metal Arc Welding Equipment / Oxy-Fuel Gas Welding Equipment
  • Wiring Electrical Equipment and Circuits
  • Assembling Electrical Wiring Support Systems
  • Carrying Out Routine Servicing on Electrical/Electronic Equipment
  • Making Components from Wood-Based
  • Assembling Engineering Woodwork Components
  • Applying Coatings or Coverings to Finish Surfaces

 

Level 2

This qualification is for candidates who want to work within an engineering environment or want to acquire engineering competencies in a work based setting. This will then enable a safe progression within the workplace/employment. Individuals employed in engineering but require additional engineering competencies as part of an existing job role or to enable career progression.

  • Producing Mechanical Engineering Drawings using a CAD System
  • Producing Components using Hand Fitting Techniques
  • Producing Mechanical Assemblies
  • Forming and Assembling Pipework Systems
  • Carrying Out Aircraft Detail Fitting Activities
  • Installing Aircraft Mechanical
  • Producing Aircraft Detail Assemblies
  • Preparing and Using Lathes for Turning Operations / Using Milling Machines
  • Preparing and Using Grinding Machines / Proving CNC Machine Tool Programs
  • Maintaining Mechanical Devices and Equipment
  • Assembling and Testing Fluid Power Systems
  • Maintaining Fluid Power Equipment
  • Producing Sheet Metal Components
  • Producing Plate work Components and Assemblies
  • Preparing and Proving CNC Fabrication Machine Tool Programs
  • Preparing and Using CNC Fabrication Machinery
  • Preparing and Using Manual Metal Arc Welding Equipment
  • Producing Electrical or Electronic Engineering Drawings using a CAD System
  • Wiring and Testing Electrical Equipment and Circuits
  • Maintaining Electronic Equipment/Systems
  • Assembling Pattern, Model and Engineering Woodwork Components
  • Plus more optional units

To complete level 1 or level 2 you must achieve a number of credits from mandatory units and credits from optional units.  This will increase as the levels increase.
