Why complete a Traineeship?
Traineeships are designed to help young people who want to get an apprenticeships or job but don’t have appropriate skills or experience.
A traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that unlocks the great potential of young people and prepares them for their future careers by helping them become ‘work ready’.
Designed to help young people aged 16 to 18 who don’t have the appropriate skills or experience, traineeships provide the essential work preparation training, English, Maths and work experience needed to secure an apprenticeship or employment.
A trainee will receive a £50.00 per week training allowance when completing a traineeship.

A traineeship is an education and training programme with work experience that is focussed on giving young people the skills and experience that employers are looking for. The learner / trainee will attend college 1 day per week and the remainder of the 30 to 40 hours per week would be spent on site gaining work experience.

During your apprenticeship you’ll learn from a skilled tradesman, you will learn the skills needed to become an expert in your field, you’ll earn while you learn. You will have opportunities to gain the skills and technical know-how to become the best in your field leading to a higher salary and greater opportunities.
Why employ an Apprentice?
Apprenticeships offer work-based training designed around the needs of the employer which lead to nationally recognised qualifications. Apprenticeships can either train new or existing employees who are moving into a new job or changed job role and need to learn new skills. Depending on the sector and job role, an apprenticeship can take between 1 and 3 years to complete. Most of the training is on the job while the rest can be provided by our college or directly by the employer. Employers are also responsible for paying the apprentices’ wages; the apprentice minimum wage is currently £3.30 per hour.
